About FPL Mundo
FPL Mundo is the original Fantasy Premier League mini-league newspaper — turning your league’s gameweek into news since 2023.
The idea: what if your fantasy mini-league was covered like real football?
Not just the points and rankings, but the full circus — overly dramatic headlines, pundit debates, fan reactions, baseless rumours and now press conferences as well. Most FPL sites are about tips and optimisation; Mundo would rather celebrate the absurdity of running a large football club, whilst trying to beat your auntie.
It’s a useful tool to pick out interesting events or actions from rivals, but mostly it’s there to make every mini-league feel like the biggest league in the world.
How it started
I was lucky enough to grow up in the “golden age” of the Premier League and Sky Sports News, where the match itself was only ever half the story. Mundo is my attempt to give FPL mini-leagues the other half: the anticipation ahead of matchdays, the theatre around the result, and as much football culture as I can weave in along the way.
I built it on my own, before ChatGPT was a thing. That meant learning the coding, building the newspaper system, and spending a frankly unreasonable amount of time writing thousands of headlines, stories, scenarios and “if” statements to cover the chaos of an FPL season.

The details that make Mundo feel real
Over the years, Mundo has introduced lots of ideas that help sell the illusion.
Supporters with opinions
Every FPL club has its own fanbase, with changing moods, unrealistic expectations and the occasional boos down the tunnel. Fan sentiment is modelled and shifts based on form and each club’s “history”.
Kits and stadiums
Kit and stadium images are edited so every club can have its own identity. Since FPL removed custom kit selection, the colours are a bit more random now — but hopefully that returns one day.
Pundits taking it far too seriously
Real-world football personalities react to your gameweek as though your mini-league really is the biggest story in football.
Press Conferences
Managers receive questions by email, and their answers appear as quotes in the next edition.
Real football news, recycled as FPL satire
When something odd happens in the real game — a quote, a meltdown, a transfer saga — I try to turn it into an FPL story about your league.
Is it AI?
Mostly no — the story templates and variations were written by me and my brother, over several years, well before anyone was asking this question. Now in 2026 AI is a very useful tool in parts of the project — primarily coding and of course folding Press Conference replies into a story (that feature wouldn’t work without it and I think is a great use of the technology). Most of the images (except the trophies which ARE AI generated) are real free-to-remix images that I manually photoshopped to apply custom colours.
Going forwards I’m hoping to use it to help generate new text templates from my existing stories to reduce repetition for long-term readers — but I’m also very aware that ChatGPT never regretted not bringing more layers to a Monday night kick-off, tracked its new signing’s flight taking off from Spain or spat out a disgusting half-time “pie” so will need to find a balance.
Everyone gets a back page
Mundo is meant to be for the whole league, including (especially?) those who’ve been coerced into taking part in the work league and have no clue what they’re doing. The paper avoids guessing anything personal about managers, and it usually judges teams against their own previous level rather than pretending every club has the same budget, boardroom patience and fanbase.
Thank you
A small group of fantastic Patreon supporters has backed the project for years. Their support keeps Mundo going and encourages me to keep adding daft new ideas. Thank you!
